A GAME OF NERVE, NOT LUCK
Most card games show you your hand. Pablo doesn't. You are dealt three cards and allowed to look at exactly one of them, once, before play begins — then the table starts moving and your memory becomes the only thing you can trust.
Every turn you draw a card and make one decision: keep it, or throw it away. Keeping it means swapping it into a slot in your hand — and whatever was in that slot goes to the discard pile, face up, for everyone to see and remember. Throwing it away is safe but does nothing. That single choice, repeated under pressure, is the whole game.
What turns it from a memory exercise into a genuine test of nerve are the special cards. A Jack lets you look at one of your own cards. A Queen lets you look at an opponent's. A 7 lets you trade one of your cards for one of theirs — sight unseen, if you're brave, or after a Queen has told you exactly what you're taking. And at any point after a discard, anyone can attempt a cut: match the discarded rank from your own hand and your hand physically shrinks by one card. Guess wrong and it grows.
When you think you're holding the lowest total at the table, you call Pablo. Everyone reveals. If you're right, the others eat their scores. If you're wrong, you eat twenty points and they walk away clean. Hit the elimination score and you're out — last player standing takes the game.
The King of Hearts is worth zero. Every other King, Queen and Jack is worth ten. Knowing where the K♥ is — and knowing that your opponent doesn't know you know — wins more games than any other single piece of information in Pablo.
FOUR WAYS TO PLAY
Every mode uses the same rules and the same chip economy.
QUICK DRAW
Drop into the matchmaking queue and get seated with whoever else is online. If the table doesn't fill by the time everyone's ready, bots take the empty seats so you're never left waiting on strangers.
PRIVATE ROOMS
Create a room, get a short code, and send it to whoever you want at the table. You set the elimination score and the bot difficulty for any empty seats. This is the mode most people play with friends.
ARCADE
Solo against bots across five difficulty settings — from Easy, which genuinely forgets its own cards, up to Pablo Mode, which plays close to optimally and punishes a loose cut every time.
HIGH ROLLERS ROOM
Ranked play for experienced players, unlocked at 20 online wins. Currently in development — see the roadmap for where it sits.
CHIPS, PACKS AND PROGRESSION
Pablo is free to play, and everything that affects the outcome of a game is free. What you spend chips on is the table you sit at and the cards you sit there with.
THE POT
Every player pays the same chip buy-in when a game starts, and the total becomes the pot. Win and you collect all of it. Higher difficulty means a higher buy-in and a bigger pot.
CARD PACKS
Spend chips on packs to collect card backs and table designs. These are cosmetic only — a rare card back deals exactly the same cards as the default one.
PABLO PRO
An optional subscription: no ads, double chips on every win, and a gold name at the table. It changes your payout, never your cards or the rules you play under.
There is no way to buy a better hand, a peek you didn't earn, or a win. We think a game where money buys outcomes stops being a game, so chips only ever buy you a bigger seat at the table and a nicer-looking deck to lose with.
